Description:
MCLD provided full lighting design for Alexandra Bridge. The bridge presented unique challenges to our designers. The bridge structure an supporting cables and girders are very thin, presenting a minimal surface to light. Our strategy was to embed the lighting in the bridge's structure, concentrating primarily on lighting the horizontal elements in order to emphasize the span of the bridge. Selected vertical surfaces were also lit, with the focus being on the concrete piers of the bridge, in order to call attention to the connection between the bridge and the water.
